Hey guys! Today we got the new Stephen Curry signature shoe – Under Armour Curry 3. Now, Under Armour did a significant job with past Curry models, you always know that a new model will be as good as past models or even better. Not every brand can offer such a consistency.
Let’s see if Curry 3 will continue this tradition. Welcome to my Under Armour Curry 3 Performance Review!
WEIGHT: 13.01 oz / 368.8 g
TECH: THREADBORNE, ANAFOAM, CHARGED
FIT: TRUE TO SIZE
RETAIL PRICE: $140
BD RATING: 7.8/10
Upper covered with Threadborne and AnaFoam in result – perfect combo. I mean, you are getting great comfort, flexibility and nice fit without loosing any support. Under Armour made a great choice by featuring these materials, it looks like you have one to one fit made just for you. I’m really amazed with that.
In addition, Under Amour put fuse layers on high-wear areas to make materials more durable.
We have Charged cushion and an Ortholite insole. In my opinion Charged cushion in this model is slightly worse than in previous Curry 2. I like cushion to be bouncy and soft. Unfortunately, cushioning in Curry 3 model is to firm for me: lack of impact protection and softness.
If you are looking for basketball shoe with bouncy, responsive & soft cushion, then this model is not for you. BUT if you like great court feel, then Curry 3 is perfect fit for you!
Once again we got Herringbone traction. One word to describe this traction – KILLER. Of course, it is very similar to the Curry 2 but this time they made rubber stronger and more durable, great news for outdoor players. So Curry 3 gripped really well and I mean REALLY WELL.
How about dusty courts? They got you covered. I had no problems with dust, just a few wipes and you can forget about it.
The Curry 3 model is really comfortable shoe. Now, like for all shoes fit is major key towards great performance. So I recommend going true to size. Obviously, the best scenario is just to try them on in your local shop. For wide footers I recommend going half a size up.
In result, they fit great. Inside and outside padding felt very comfortable, lacing system adds nice support & brilliant secure feel in midfoot area.
Oh man! The Curry 3 surprised me with amazing support. We got a big ass heel counter with Stephen Curry logo on it, real carbon fiber wings on the sides & a carbon fiber shank for additional support. With this support tech and a wide base you are ready to ball hard. Without a doubt, the main support comes from proper size!
Under Armour did it again. I think that the Curry 3 is really solid shoe and slightly better than previous models. Upper on these definitely amazing and rubber compound is a little bit more durable.
One think I didn’t like was cushion – it was to firm for me. But as I said previously, if you like court feel than cushion is another small improvement from previous model.
Is it forth $140? Definitely!
